Method and limitations
Imports — indirect plastic packaging · version 1

Imports — indirect plastic packaging

Plastic packaging around food, pharmaceuticals and cosmetics is hidden in trade codes for the product rather than recorded as plastic.

How it is produced

The inventory applies a 1% packaging factor to the net weight of selected imported goods. The result is an indicative estimate, not measured packaging.

Read with care

One factor is applied across very different products and is likely to be imprecise. A Fiji-specific packaging declaration would allow these estimates to be replaced.
